With recent reports of the Jets hiring a new general manager, head coach, and offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator can now be added to the mix as the Jets have come to terms with the former Dolphins’ defensive line coach Kacy Rodgers.
Rodgers’ work in the NFL includes positions as the Cowboys’ defensive tackles coach and defensive line coach from 2003 to 2007, and the Dolphins’ defensive line coach for the past six years. He churned out three pro-bowlers in his time with the Dolphins, namely lineman Randy Starks, Paul Soliai, and Cameron Wake.
As defensive coordinator, his area of specialty on the D-line will match up with the Jets’ defensive strength, as three of their best defensive players, Muhammad Wilkerson, Sheldon Richardson, and Damon Harrison man the front of the defense. Rodgers and Todd Bowles, both rookies in their new jobs, will collaborate on this Jets defense and work to keep it one of the better defenses in the NFL.
