In what has seemed inevitable for some time now, Ichiro Suzuki has left New York for the Miami Marlins on a one-year deal after spending two and a half seasons with the New York Yankees.
It was reported yesterday that the Marlins made Ichiro a one-year, $2 million offer.
While his days as an elite player in the MLB are behind him, Ichiro can still be a sold fourth outfielder. He can handle all three outfield positions while also being a solid pinch hitter. One major key to Ichiro’s game is his speed. While he is losing some pace at 41-years old, Ichiro will be able to single handily bring in more runs due to his speed on base.
Last season, Ichiro posted a .284/.324/.340 slash line to go along with 1 home run, 22 RBI’s, and 15 stolen bases over the course of 143 games.
