Kyle Okposo will be out for the next 6-8 weeks due to an upper-body injury. Okposo has had a phenomenal season leading the Islanders in assists with 30 and tied for ninth in the NHL.
He recorded his first career hat trick on January 16. Okposo had three goals in the third period alone en route to scoring four goals in a thrilling 6-3 win over the Penguins on a Friday night at a rocking Coliseum.
This is a big loss for the Isles as they are now without arguably their second best player on the team behind John Tavares. The Islanders are currently in first place in the Metropolitan Division with a 31-14-1 record and are slated to face the New York Rangers on Tuesday, though inclement weather may cause the game to be postponed.
