New York Giants’ wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has been named the AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Over the course of the 2014 season, a season in which Beckham Jr. was plagued with injuries, he managed to tally 91 catches, 1,305 receiving yards, and 12 touchdowns in 12 games, while also managing to capture the media attention of America with a catch some describe to be the “best ever” against the Dallas Cowboys.
After Victor Cruz went down with an injury, Beckham Jr. was thrusted into the primary wide receiver role and did not disappoint as he managed to replace Calvin Johnson Jr. on the Pro Bowl roster in his rookie season, while also shattering Giants rookie receiving records across the board.
Earlier in January, The Professional Football Writers of America named Beckham Jr. their Offensive Rookie of the Year for the 2014 season.
Many predicted Beckham Jr. would win the award with the description of his play only being summed up as “a man amongst boys” over the course of last season.
