New York Giants co-owner Ann Mara passed away this morning at the age of 85, due to complications resulting from a fall during the ice storm a few weeks ago.
Ann Mara, who was sometimes referred to as “The First Lady of Football”, has owned 50 percent of the team since 2005, when her husband Wellington Mara passed away. Her husband was inducted into the football Hall of Fame as one of the most influential men in New York Giants history. Ann was always right by his side. She was a great fan of the team.
Fans will fondly remember her scolding Terry Bradshaw for picking against the Giants on their way to winning Super Bowl XLVI. It was a moment that truly showed who she was; a terrific fan who cared deeply about her team.
Ann Mara’s love of the Giants was second only to her love of her family. She was the matriarch of the Mara family. Her 11 children, their spouses, and her numerous grandchildren were all by her side when she passed away.
Please keep the Mara family in your thoughts and prayers for the next few days. Rest in peace, Ann Mara, the matriarch of the Mara family and the New York Football Giants.
