Amid an incredibly tough season, Amar’e Stoudemire’s name has come up in trade talks, and some have even suggested he could request a buy out so he could sign with a contender. He is 32 and his career is in a downward spiral after all.
All of those rumors can now be put the rest. The New York Knicks star has said he hopes to remain a Knick this season, and Adam Zagoria has tweeted that Stoudemire reportedly wants to re-sign with the Knicks this offseason.
As of right now, in a season mired with injuries, Stoudemire has still been productive as he has been averaging 12.2 points per game, 7 rebounds per game, and 1 block per game while shooting 55.1% from the field, and 71.3% from the free throw line coming off of the bench.
Stoudemire has asserted himself as a potent offensive weapon in his new role coming off the bench and that could be the turning point, that could get him re-signed for a smaller contract this offseason.
