A little less than a year after his retirement, the New York Giants have officially cut David Wilson.
Wilson was given the tragic news he would no longer be able to continue his football career after suffering spinal stenosis. He attempted a comeback but failed, resulting in his retirement last summer.
The Giants placed him on IR rather than waiving him. The reason being the Giants wanted him to collect his salary from last season as well as gain extra benefits from a year longer of employment heading into retirement.
The move saves New York approximately 1.3 million in cap room entering the 2015 offseason.
