The New York Rangers and fan favorite, Mats Zuccarello, have agreed on a four year extension, worth $18 million, which is $4.5 million per year.
The only part of negotiations still holding up the finalization of a contract are a No-Trade Clause. Zuccarello, a twenty seven year old winger from Norway has been with the Rangers organization since 2010.
This season, he has twelve goals and thirty five points in fifty nine games. He brings a rambunctious side to his game to energize the crowd and team. Locking him up long term was the right move by Glen Sather. He is an important part of this team and is very valuable come playoff time.
The “Hobbit” plays with his heart on his sleeve and has certainly raised his game since his name was rumored to be on the trading block. He provides that certain spark the Rangers need and has excellent on ice vision. Let the chants of “Zucc” rain down upon the Garden ice for four more years.
