The New York Giants have tagged defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul. This should come as no surprise as he is one of the top 4-3 ends in the league and helps the Giants defense tremendously when he is on the field.
Pierre-Paul graded out to be the 7th ranked 4-3 DE in the league according to Pro Football Focus (PFF). He had an pass rush grade of 5.6 and a run stop grade of 11.9.
Over the course of last season, Pierre-Paul had 12.5 sacks and 77 tackles (24 assisted, 53 total), while also forcing a total of 3 fumbles.
Tagging Pierre-Paul will set the Giants back about $15 million so they will need to try to work out a long term deal to free up some cap room. The Giants will place the non-exclusive tag on Pierre-Paul forcing teams to give up 2 first round picks if they want him.
