The New York Giants had a clear need at linebacker heading into free agency, and after previously signed Linebacker Jonathon Casillas, they now have added J.T. Thomas to the roster.
Thomas’ deal is worth $12 million over three seasons, with $4.5 million fully guaranteed.
Thomas was a sixth round selection by the Chicago Bears in the 2011 NFL Draft, and played two seasons there before moving onto the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he played another two seasons. He had 84 tackles and two interceptions in 16 games last season (1o starts).
Thomas should serve as insurance in case Jon Beason goes down with injury yet again, as well as depth on the inside. He could compete for a starting job also.
