Shane Vereen officially became a member of the New York Giants today after the team had reportedly strong interest in signing him. The deal was initially reported at four-years, $16 million, but has since been corrected to a three-years, $12 million with only $5 million of that money being guaranteed.
Vereen is a versatile running back, bringing his most upside to the passing game. As a member of the New England Patriots in 2014 he recorded 52 receptions for 447 yards and three touchdowns while also gaining 391 yards on the ground with an average of 4.1 yards per carry and two touchdowns.
The Super Bowl champion is till young at just 26 years old and will help out enormously running the quick slant and wheel routes he has thrived off of over his career. The cost-effective move adds another weapon and home run threat for quarterback Eli Manning and offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo’s dangerous new West Coast scheme.
