Overnight the New York Knicks signed guard, and former Dallas Maverick, Ricky Ledo to a 10-day contract.
The 22-year-old has posted 15.1 points per game, 4.6 rebounds per game and 4.1 assists per game this season for the Texas Legends.
Ledo was originally drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks with the 43rd pick in the 2013 draft out of Providence. He went unsigned with Milwaukee and the Dallas Mavericks later signed him to an NBA contract. Ledo has played in 16 games over the past two seasons.
Ledo has bounced back-and-forth between Dallas and the Texas Legends of the NBA Development League before being waived on February 18th.
Ledo stands at 6’7 and weighs in at 195 lbs. On the offensive end Ledo has the ability to create shots for himself off the dribble and has a nice handle overall. Ledo’s shooting ability is hit and miss but he is superior athletically. Defensively he is a project due to his poor lateral quickness and lack of defensive instincts.
Additionally, this signing fills out the New York Knicks roster which now makes it unlikely that the Knicks 51st pick, Thanasis Antetokoumnpo, will be signed to a contract this season.
Ledo’s 10-day contract expires on 28th March, 2015.
