New York Sports Hub will be participating in a signed baseball giveaway with New York Mets’ pitcher, Akeel Morris.
Born in St. Thomas, the right handed reliever has been a rising star within the Mets’ organization since being selected by the team in the tenth round of the 2010 MLB Draft out of Charlotte Amalie High School at 17-years old.
Throughout his six-year minor league career, spanning from 2010 to the beginning of the current 2015 season, Morris has boasted career averages of a 2.93 ERA with 290 strikeouts while holding batters to an average of .168.
At just 22-years-old, Morris has garnered high praise for his continued hard work and development by Mets’ coaching staff. Some have even made comparisons to fellow Virgin Islands native, Al Mcbean, a right-handed reliever and the 1964 Sporting News Fireman of the Year who played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, San Diego Padres, and Los Angeles Dodgers between 1961 and 1970.
To win a signed baseball by one of the New York Mets’ up and coming stars, be sure to follow @NYSports_Hub on Twitter for updates on the competition, with the winners being announced on Sunday night.
