New York Sports Hub Welcomes First Sponsored Athlete Rashad Jennings

New York Sports Hub is proud to announce our first sponsored athlete: New York Giants running back Rashad Jennings!

Jennings has blown away all expectations set for him after he was drafted in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft out of Liberty College by the Jacksonville Jaguars. In three seasons backing up starter Maurice Jones-Drew for the Jaguars, Jennings racked up 944 yards rushing  and seven touchdowns before moving on to a more prominent role with the Oakland Raiders. He responded to the increased playing time with a monster season for the Raiders, rushing for 733 yards and six touchdowns. The Giants signed Jennings the following season to a four-year/ $10 million contract. He showed the club a taste of just how good he can be as a starting back by racking up 639 yards on the ground and four touchdowns in just 11 games played.

Prehaps even more impressive than his on field play is the charitable work Jennings does off of it. The Rashad Jennings Foundation inspires children to better themselves in the classrooms by offering programs like the “Reading Challenge” which pushes kids to read and comprehend as many books as possible in a timeframe set by their schools. The children who participated were then entered to win prizes such as autographed Giants memorabilia, a family pack of tickets to a Giants game during the season, personal tour of Giant’s locker room by Rashad Jennings or another player, and have Jennings or another player came to eat lunch with the winner at school. The Foundation’s mission statement, “To inspire youth by making education fun, to provide mentorship for individual success, and to promote health and fitness worldwide,” is one that displays the incredible character Rashad Jennings’ possesses.

Our staff here at New York Sports Hub is incredibly proud to be sponsoring an athlete like Rashad Jennings who, not only plays his heart out on the field, but continues to give so much back to his community. New York Sports Hub co-founder Jack Jameson said on the new partnership: “ I am extremely excited to welcome Rashad Jennings to NY Sports Hub as our featured athlete. After putting so much work in, to have a star running back in Rashad team up with us is beyond amazing. I look forward to furthering our relationship with the Giants along with every other New York team as NYSH continues to grow and succeed.”

Fellow co-founder, Ankit Mehra, added: “When I founded this site back in 2013 with Jack Jameson, I did not know what to expect. Back then, it was a matter of views and content. Social media was a non-factor, advertising was a non-factor, and partnerships were a non-factor. Today, New York Sports Hub, a creation at one point I did not know how long I would have interest in, is partnering with the New York Giants starting running back Rashad Jennings. In the almost two years we have been providing content to readers, this is the biggest move I can recall and I can only see it as beneficial for both parties. This is a new chapter for New York Sports Hub and hopefully Rashad.”

New York Giants section editor and head of Media Inquiries, Jack Aylmer, then summed it up by saying: “Rashad Jennings is the type of athlete whose examplifies what the ‘soul beneath the helmet’ should aspire to be.  What he does on and off the field, he does with every ounce of effort and passion he has in his body. Jennings is a role model for all aspiring young athletes as he emphasises determination and perseverance to his fans in athletics and in the classroom. You really cannot say enough good things about Rashad as a man. I am honored to get the chance to work alongside him and the Rashad Jennings Foundation to help further benefit the New York community. I wish Rashad the best of luck this season with the Giants.
