With the sixth pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the New York Jets have selected defensive end Leonard Williams out of USC. Considered by many to be the top prospect in the draft, the Jets were ecstatic to see him slide to the sixth pick and had to pull the trigger on the superb defensive prospect.
Possibly the most talented player in the draft, Leonard Williams was considered a sure-fire top five pick. After sliding just a few picks, he lands in a very great position with the New York Jets.
And with Amari Cooper, Marcus Mariota and Brandon Scherff off the board, the Jets chose the best player available despite their offensive woes. Williams will join a pass-rush team consisting of Sheldon Richardson, Muhammad Wilkerson, Quinton Coples and Damon Harrison.
Defensive-minded coach Todd Bowles will have an insane amount of talent to work with on defense in his first year as an NFL head coach, with the pass-rush and secondary to force sacks and interceptions against any team.
Adding a talented player like Leonard Williams is certainly a step in the right direction for a rebuilding Jets team, and while many questions remain on offense, the Jets defense is set to be absolutely terrifying.
