The New York Rangers find themselves in another must win Game 6 on Mother’s Day. Just like last year, the Rangers find themselves down 3-2 heading into a Game 6. Last year, it was against the Pittsburgh Penguins, now it is the Washington Capitals.
After going down 3-1 in their series last year, the Rangers rallied back behind an unfortunate story with Martin St. Louis and defeated the Penguins in seven games. This year, the Blueshirts find themselves in the same predicament and are in a must win, do or die situation.
After a dramatic 2-1 overtime win at the Garden last Friday, New York heads back to Washington D.C. for another must win Game 6. Now, the pressure is all on Washington, who are looking to close out the series at home this Sunday.
The Rangers have not had many lucky bounces against Braden Holtby, who has held the Rangers to two goals or less every game this series except for Game 2. Now, the Rangers have hopefully implanted a little bit of doubt into the minds of the Capitals.
The Rangers will just need to stick to the game plan and remain consistent, just as head coach Alain Vigneault always says. New York is due for a miracle and the Rangers are the team to do it. Here’s to a Game 7 on Wednesday.
