The injury bug appears to be in full force force for the New York Yankees. Promising rookie prospect Slade Heathcott has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained quadriceps.
Heathcott was pulled from his start last night, and this DL stint is the worst case scenario. Heathcott was off to an excellent start in the place of Jacoby Ellsbury, hitting .353.
23-year-old minor league outfielder Ramon Flores is being promoted to the majors in place of Heathcott. Flores is hitting .294 with 4 home runs and 15 RBI’s through 42 games at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this year, which actually were better hitting numbers then Heathcott.
Chris Young is expected to be promoted to the full time left fielder after this injury.
The Yankees have endured a magnitude of injures this season as Heathcott going down is one of various injuries to strike as Chris Capauno, and Masahiro Tanaka are some other names who have gone down this season.
