After bringing him in for a workout during minicamp, the New York Jets have made it official. They have officially signed former New Orleans Saints and New York Giants Offensive Tackle Charles Brown.
He currently is on the 90-man roster and will report to the teams training camp in July.
Brown was drafted in the second round of the 2010 NFL draft out of USC. He had potential to be a starter quality tackle, but has yet to prove that. He was benched with the Saints in 2010 and eventually cut in 2013. He signed on with the Giants prior to last season, but again struggled mightily leading to him being cut after an embarassing loss to the San Francisco 49ers in which he gave up multiple sacks.
Brown still is just 27-years-old and has potential. The Jets currently have D’Brickashaw Ferguson and Breno Giacomini slated to start at the two tackle spots, while Brown will compete for a reserve role.
