NYCFC Look To Make It Two In A Row Against Montreal

New York City football club are on the heels of their first away win in club history, after completing a comeback against the Philadelphia Union. They look to make it two wins in a row saturday against the Montreal Impact.

Tommy McNamara and Patrick Mullins both tallied last week for Jason Kreis’ club. Mullins has been particularly strong; he is tied with star striker David Villa atop the leaderboards, with three goals.

Both goal scorers are amongst the starters tonight for Kreis’s team, who are without Adam Nemec and Mix Diskerud due to international duty. The latter was particularly key in the United States pair offriendlies, when he scored the tying goal against World Champions Germany.

Montreal Impact are a very strong squad, who have been on a good run of form. They recently made it to the CONCACAF Champions League Final, before falling at the final hurdle. They are a single win away from being in a playoff spot, an impressive feat for a squad tha has been hit with so many injuries.

Keys for NYCFC:

Get Mullins Chances: Patrick Mullins is in fine form, and his confidence couldn’t be higher after last week. He needs to be continuously involved in the clubs attack if NYCFC are to win. The service is key.

Ballouchy on the wings: no Khiry Shelton or Mix Diskerud means a lack of creativity and offense for Jason Kreis’ club. Mehdi Ballouchy needs to play a big role in the clubs attack if they are to advance.

Stay compact defensively: Jason Hernandez and Chris Wingert haven’t been great this season, but they need to be big tonight. Organization and communication is key. If they do their jobs correctly, NYCFC have a much better chance at a positive result.

Prediction: NYCFC 1, Montreal 0

David Villa scores the lone goal as NYCFC make it two in a row. This could be a career defining moment for villa in the MLS; his individual brilliance hasn’t shown as brightly as some had expected. Tonight could change that.
