Didier Drogba to New York Red Bulls?

Didier Drogba might be playing in Harrison, New Jersey pretty soon. Instead of joining his former teammate, Frank Lampard for New York City Football Club, Drogba has hinted that he would love to suit up for the Red Bulls.

At a festival in Morocco, Drogba was quoted as saying:

Ok, just call the owners [of the Red Bulls] and I’m there.

Drogba acted as the third striker for Chelsea Football Club playing behind Diego Costa and Loic Remy this past season. In 20 appearances in the Premier League, Drogba totaled 4 goals and 1 assist via WhoScored.com. Drogba acted as a substitute for Chelsea in a lot of the games.

What would Drogba bring to the Red Bulls? He is a proven winner who can still find the back of the net. He would act as a successor for Thierry Henry and likely arrive in the July transfer window. Drogba could bolster the Red Bull’s strike force.

However Drogba is 37-years-old and has lost a fair share of his athleticism. In the MLS, which is a league very reliant on pace, Drogba could struggle.
