NBA Mock Draft 2.0

Dez Jermaine

28. Boston Celtics

Anthony’s Pick: Aleksandar Vezenkov, F, Bulgaria

My original projection: Aleksandar Vezenkov

The Celtics have stockpiled draft picks these past few seasons and will own four for this upcoming draft. Selecting someone to stash in Europe is necessary, and Vezenkov is a perfect choice. He has nice skills in transition and has a nice shot as well. Picture him as a Bogdan Bodganovic type of player.

Sourna’s Pick: Cliff Alexander, Power Forward, Kansas

Forwards fly off the board thick and fast this late in the draft. Selecting a difference maker at the position can instantly build a bench, but the chances dwindle with each pick. Alexander is an athletic power forward/center who could contribute to a contending team.

In the post, Alexander challenges opposing players, hitting them with all of his 240 pounds of strength. Scoring is a skill Alexander has yet to develop and with his awkward shooting form seems unlikely in the near future, but he pursues every rebound and brings toughness every possesion. Although Boston won’t seriously contend next season they won’t suffer by allowing an athlete a chance to develop into a productive player for the team.
