After seeing their targets such as D’Angelo Russell and Jahlil Okafor be drafted by the Lakers and 76ers, the New York Knicks have selected Latvian big man Kristaps Porzingis.
Porzingis was a member of Spanish Club Sevilla since 2011, and is just 19 years of age. He is 7 foot 1 and 230 pounds, but is planning to bulk up and gain strength in order to be able to bang down low with the bigger NBA big men.
Porzingis has a unique skill set, being able to handle the ball and shoot like a small forward. He has a developing post game, but he may not have a true NBA impact in two seasons. He is not big enough yet, and his post game is inconsistent.
They picked Porzingis over targets such as Justice Winslow and Emmanual Mudiay. That is the Knicks only draft selection for now, but they are expected to trade for another.
