Nets and Grizzlies Discussed Joe Johnson Deal

According to Marc Stein of ESPN the Brooklyn Nets and Memphis Grizzlies were discussing a trade that would send Joe Johnson to the Memphis Grizzlies. The deal eventually fell through as the two teams could not find the right players to partner in the trade.

While the two teams could not agree, this is extremely encouraging for the Nets that teams are at least interested in Johnson. After averaging 14.4 ppg last season, Johnson is on the trade block as the Nets try to move is massive $24 million salary that is set to expire after this year.

Don’t expect the Johnson trade rumors to slow down, while he is aging and overpaid, Johnson could still contribute to a contender either in the starting lineup or off the bench.
