Carlos Beltran Placed On 15-Day DL

New York Yankees outfielder Carlos Beltran has officially been placed on the 15 day disabled list with a left oblique strain.

Beltran is joining Jacoby Ellsbury on the DL, meaning two thirds of their starting outfield are currently shelved. Ellsbury is expected to make his return sometime in the next week.

Beltran started off the season slow, but has been hitting well over .300 since June. He’s hitting .260 on the year with seven home runs and 30 RBI’s.

Outfielder Ramon Flores was recalled from Triple-A Scranton, and should serve as backup for Garrett Jones who should now get everyday out fielding duties to fill in for Beltran. Gregorio Petit was also called up, as the Yankees sent down Taylor Dugas.
