It has been a long time coming, but New York City Football Club and Andrea Pirlo have finally come to an agreement that will bring the Italian veteran to the new MLS expansion club.
Juventus FC officially announced the move.
This move has been in the works for the past month, with Pirlo appearing at both a Yankees and NYCFC game, and his son telling his friends that he is moving to New York.
Pirlo is a renowned talent, who just came short of winning the Champions League Final with Juventus, falling to FC Barcelona. Teaming up with Frank Lampard, NYCFC is sure to have one of, if not the strongest midfield in the MLS.
Showcasing his talents at the aforementioned Juventus and most notably AC Milan among others, Pirlo is a maestro on the field and is one of the best free kick takers in the world.
Pirlo will be critical to helping NYCFC stay on their current hot streak. The club’s next game is on July 12 against Toronto FC but his debut isn’t expected until NYCFC’s match against Orlando City SC on July 26.
