The Brooklyn Nets have waived F Cory Jefferson according to Tim Bontemps of the New York Post. Jefferson was the 60th selection in the 2014 draft.
The move was anticipated after Andrea Bargnani signed with the Nets on Sunday. Jefferson appeared in 50 games for the Nets last season, and averaged 3.7 points and 2.9 rebounds per game while shooting 45% from the field. He also spent time in the D-League with the Main Red Claws.
Jefferson’s time seemed limited, with the aforementioned acquisition of Bargnani, along with drafting Chris McCullough and signing Thomas Robinson and Willie Reed. The Nets’ frontcourt has become deeper this offseason, and there was no room for Jefferson.
The Baylor product was due $150k if he did not clear waivers by Wednesday.
The Nets have officially announced the move.
