New York City FC have put defender Josh Williams on waivers, after Williams only made five appearances with the club. He was NYCFC’s eighth signing.
With a newly revamped backline including Andoni Iraola, Angelino and Jefferson Mena, it is no surprise to see a defender depart NYCFC. Williams was originally acquired for allocation money from the Columbus Crew.
Williams is owed $125k of guaranteed salary and this will still count against the salary cap. NYCFC was over the maximum amount of players, but after waiving Williams the number is back down to 28.
By being put on waivers, Williams is free to be picked up by any club. The clubs with the least amount of points have the highest priority when it comes to waivers.
