Update: Stepan’s deal will be worth $6.5 million per yer over six seasons.
After a long, drawn out negotiation process, the New York Rangers have finally re-signed restricted free agent Derek Stepan.
As mentioned in the tweet, the parameters of the deal are unknown, but expect a big pay day. The 25 year old was crucial for the team over the past two seasons, totaling 112 total points.
Stepan was scheduled for an arbitration hearing later this week, but luckily that was avoided with this deal.
Stepan is the first Ranger since Wayne Gretzky to have three consecutive 82 game seasons where he totaled 50+ points.
