NYCFC looking at French defender

NYCFC are reportedly looking to sign French defender Frédéric Brillant,  Belgian sports news outlet, Voetbalkrant, reports.

According to Brillant’s agent, Gunter Thiebaut, the New York outfit have been in contact with the 30-year-old.

“It is true that the American club shows interest in the defender,”he said.

“However, at present there is nothing signed yet, but a lot of time has gone. We are talking to New York City.”

Brillant has made his mark on Belgian side KV Oostende, making 101 appearances for the club, finding the back of the net 12 times.

It seems as if the Sky blues are particularly attempting to reinforce their back line, with the signing of Ronald Matarrita confirmed yesterday, and Left-back Jack Harrison selected in the SuperDraft.

The side travel to Florida next month in order to kick off their pre-season preparations.

Unlike last time, however, the club linked with the talismanic Ivorian are none other than New York City FC…and this rumour came straight from the subject’s mouth, not the tabloids (a rare sight in today’s transfer rumour spinning world of journalism).
